Aiden the Monkey

The other night Cameron and I were playing with Aiden in his room. We were playing his favorite new game of "take everything out of my toy box". Aiden will pull out as many toys as he can then when he can't reach them anymore he will stand by his toy box, do our baby sign for "help" then point to the toy he wants me to grab...it's really cute. While Aiden and I were doing that, Cam was playing with a toy of Aiden's that makes a monkey noise. Every time Cam would push the button Aiden would copy this noise. However, it wasn't the sweet little monkey noise he usually makes it was this goofy noise (that sounded nothing like a monkey) that was cracking us up. Once again, by the time I remembered to grab the camera the noise was much less pronounced...but if you listen to the beginning of the video you can here it a little bit. I also got him using his "help" sign.

Amazed every day....

As I have told you all many times, Aiden loves music. He loves to listen to all kinds of music and finds a beat to "groove to" in everything from the washing machine noises to the sound of me typing...if there is noise he will find a beat and dance. Since he was just a few months old he has loved to make his own percussion noises, and as he gets older, he is learning to make new kinds of music. Now, I don't think really think he is a musical genius (actually I kinda do, but we won't talk about that now) I just love how happy music makes him. For that reason we buy him every instrument we can. Aiden and I spend about 30 minutes a day sitting in his room playing with his instruments. The most recent purchase was a harmonica (thanks, Grammy). I didn't really think he could play it, but I knew he would enjoy listening to it. So, I play it everyday then I hold it to his lips. A couple days ago I was in my room getting ready for the day when I hear the harmonica being played in Aiden's room. What do you know, he can play it. Just another example of why I am amazed every day by this precious little person.

Lazy Day with Family

My brother and sister were in town this weekend. It was so good to see both of them and I know they enjoyed seeing the kids. I was enjoying everyone so much, that I forgot to pull out the camera most of the time. However, I did manage to take a few pictures...here are some random ones. Just a side note: by the end of the weekend Aiden was able to say "Auntie" and "Uncle"...pretty impressive, sweet boy!

Tubby Time with Cousin Amelia

My parent's had a little dinner over at their house friday night since my sister and brother were in town. We had a great time visiting with family. We were joined by my cousin Brian, his wife Kristen and their two girls Ruby and Amelia. Aiden had a great time playing with (well actually following around and trying to copy) Amelia who is exactly 1 year older than him. The best part was watching the two of them in the tub together. Amelia was so cute and animated...flopping all over the tub. Aiden enjoyed himself but was a little confused when Amelia was trying to wash him :)....SO CUTE! Surprisingly, these were the only pictures I took from the night. My mom took more so I will post them later.

Off goes Sis Sis

Emma was bouncing on her big yellow ball and Aiden walked up behind her and pushed her and she purposefully fell off. Aiden laughed SO hard and thought he was so cool. He did it about 20 times before I thought to get out the camera. By the time I started recording he was only mildly chuckling (but still bending over like he was laughing hard), but it was still cute. I also caught him on video saying "sis sis" and "six" they are two of my favorite words right now because he has a little lisp and so his tongue pops out when he says them....it could not be cuter. I must say that I love watching Aiden play with his sisters. He loves them so much and you can just tell that he feels so special when they play with him. I love my little family!!!

Katie before school

The Children's Museum

Aiden and I met my friend Sarah and her son at the Children's Museum this morning. It was our first time so Sarah and Keiran showed us the ropes. There were so many neat things to explore and Aiden was determined to make sure he got his hands on everything. The boys had a great time playing and I truly enjoyed catching up with Sarah.

Aiden loved pushing the shopping cart around, but did not want anything in his basket

Bob the Builder
This is a huge xylophone that Aiden LOVED playing
If you look closely you can see a little face paint that Aiden did himself
He got soaked in the waterplay area (the binky is in because he kept trying to dunk his hand then suck the water off...YUK!)

The Weekend Update

Last weekend it was sunburns...this weekend it was frostbite!!! It was actually 40 degrees colder this weekend and it SNOWED!!! I think E. Wash said it best in her blog, "what the H" (love that girl). Anyway, we didn't let it stop us. Saturday Emma played in 2 outdoor soccer games (scoring a total of 7 goals), and despite the cold Aiden had a great time playing the game "see if you can catch me before I run on the soccer field" :) Sunday morning Katie and Cameron went fishing at 5am and actually caught a fish. Then Sunday night Chef Emma made us her famous lasagna (with minimal help from me) and brownies for dessert. It was delicious and she was super proud of herself. Grammy came over just before bed time to say goodnight to the kiddos (they spent the weekend in Seattle). I was doing a few things downstairs and Grammy was up getting Aiden ready for bed. I came upstairs to find a naked boy running wild...of course I had to grab the camera. Well, that was my weekend...nothing out of the ordinary, but full of love and laughter. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed mine!

Grammy finally caught the wild boy and put some clothes on him...
Oh, how he loves him some Grammy!!!

Tubby Time for Mommy and Aiden

Aiden loves these little light up bath toys that he got for his birthday (thanks, Auntie Dee and Uncle Matt). They have suction cups on the back of them and he recently discovered that they stick to more than just the tub :)

Aiden saying "Bath"

Every day Aiden will amaze me by busting out several new words. I was keeping a list but I can't keep up with all of them. Not only does he copy everything we say, but he actually uses the words. My favorites that he says right now are "off", "grass", "bye bye", "sit", and "bath". I love to hear him talk...he has such a sweet little voice. He also loves to make animal noises. The other day he was doing his best "woof woof" and I couldn't figure out why he was doing it. I looked up and saw that there was a puppy on the tv....little genius! Of course I try very hard to capture all this on video, but he clams up every time I pull the camera out. Today before our bath I managed to catch a few words...enjoy!

Emma's Soccer Game

Katelynne took a ton of pictures of her sister playing soccer at her game the other day, unfortunately all the action shots were blurry. Here are a few cute ones she got at the end of the game.

The tulip festival

Spring finally arrived in The Great NW!!! Saturday was a beautiful day so after Emma's soccer game we decided to head to the Tulip Festival in Woodland. We all enjoyed the sunshine, the tulips, and each other. After the tulips Grammy and Poppy gave us a tour of their old stomping grounds. We got the see the farmland were Poppy was raised (the house had been torn down) and we got to see the ranch/house were Grammy grew up. Of course I had seen it before, but Cameron and the kids hadn't. I think it was fun for G and P to reminisce a little bit too :).
